Jeffrey Lada Laczynski, 61, passed on May 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jeff was raised in North Riverside, Illinois, and remained a lifelong friend to many fellow Komarek Grade School Wildcats. He was the beloved son of the late Marion (Matus) and Zygmund Laczynski.
A resident of Lemont, Illinois, Jeff’s zest for life, booming laugh, and welcoming spirit made everyone around him feel loved and at home. He had a fulfilling career as a commodities broker.
His ultimate passion was playing music with cherished friends and bandmates. As an incomparable guitarist and showman, he helped create exhilarating, memorable musical experiences for countless audiences, including long time, friends and supporters. Of course, his greatest privilege and joy was being a father to sons Matthew and Jason. They took true center stage in his life. He never tired of cheering them on in all aspects of life including academics, sports, career pursuits and their own music making. Jeff will surely be remembered for his kindness, generosity and loyalty, as well as being a devoted Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lori (Prokes), and their two sons, Matthew and Jason.
He is also survived by his siblings: Mike (Phyllis) Kelly, Lynn (Scott) Hendry, and Dan Laczynski, as well as his nieces and nephews: Alex, Samantha (Avie), Paige, Johnathan, and Ben.
As Jeff would say — “Ah-yay!” — Rock and roll all night, and party every day.

In an era long before social media and cell phones, there were two boys who became best friends. Who were there for each other through thick & thin and throughout the years. No matter how old they were, where they were, or what they were doing.
It was a privilege to watch a friendship like that from the sidelines, especially as I got I older. And while I’m sad I won’t be able to watch anymore, I am grateful to have memories & LOTS of stories.
Aside from countless rock shows - either watching you or watching with you - some of my favorite memories are the ones offstage. The basement banter with my dad. The phone conversations between the two of you that rivaled a comedy special. The impromptu air band renditions of classic rock songs with endless tidbits of trivia. The way you always made sure to find Ryan and I at any event to make sure we were having a good time -- in true rockstar style.
Jeff, you will be missed. For so many reasons and by so many people. For me, I will miss your enthusiasm for life. Your ability to have a good time, all of the time. The way you made everyone feel like your best friend. And for truly being my dad’s best friend.
Thank you for living so loud & so loving. For being the true definition of a rockstar. We will continue to rock on always, just for you.

I had a nickname for Jeff. I called him Eric Clapton and he always laughed. He always smiled, too. What a pleasure to have known him. Jesus welcomed him home.

It's such a huge loss of such a great guy and premier musician. My sincere condolences to Lori and the boys. Such awesome memories with the Kings of the Nighttime World. From hanging during jam sessions in Lori and Jeff's basement, to flying to the Virgin Islands to play at the Hard Rock for Halloween, to playing in Coal City, Shark City and so many other venues. Jeff, Scott, Randy and Greg were the best lineup and version of the band. They Welcomed me with open arms and it was just an absolute blast. Rest in Peace Starchild and stay warm in God's embrace. My heart goes out to Jeff's family and friends. So very sorry for your loss.

A lifetime of memories of sharing childhood time at the Laczynski house with Danny, Jeff and Lynn in the pool playing Marco Polo , ‘creating’ dinners in the kitchen and playing in our neighborhood as kids until well after dark all summer. Then, meeting again as adults- most recently sharing time at Samantha and Avie’s wedding. His larger than life personality and kindness will be etched in our memories. I’m so sorry that his life on earth was not long enough. We extend our deepest condolences.
