Joann Hargis Obituary

Mrs. Joann Hargis, age 68, of the Rickman Community of Overton County, Tennessee passed away surrounded by her loving family at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.  Joann was born Friday, July 27, 1956, to the late Carson and Margie Garrett Lee in Monroe, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her brother: Richard Lee, and her sister-in-law: Tammy Lee.

Joann is survived by her husband of 35 years, Junior Hargis.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son: Gary Sevier of Celina, Tennessee, her son: Terry "Huggy" (Lisa) Williams of Rickman, Tennessee, also three step-children: Brandon (Pat) Hargis of Alpine, Tennessee, Rodney Hargis of Wesfork Community of Overton County, Tennessee, and Michele Cook of Alpine, Tennessee.  Joann is also survived by her grandchildren: Jonathan Sevier of Indiana, Ava Cook of Livingston, Tennessee, Wade Hargis of Alpine, Tennessee, Sean Martin of Rickman, Tennessee, and Adam Martin of Denver, Colorado.  Joann has a special nephew: Nathan (Christian) Lee, and baby Avi all of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a special niece: Amanda (Michael) Anderson of Cookeville, Tennessee.  Her sister: Sue (Tom) Glausier of Rickman, Tennessee survive, along with her brother: Johnny Lee of Rickman, Tennessee.

Joann will always be remembered as a loving wife, a loving mother, and a loving grandmother.  She was a devoted Christian and church member.  For 40+ years she was an active member of Rickman First Baptist Church in Rickman, Tennessee.  Joann loved gardening when she was able.  She especially enjoyed working in her flower garden.  She loved cooking.  Her daughter-in-law said she was an excellent cook.  Joann and Junior loved having people at their home for food, fun, and fellowship.

Serving as Pallbearers for Mrs. Joann Hargis will be: Brandon Hargis, Wade Hargis, Rodney Hargis, Nathan Cobble, Matthew Cobble, and Sean Martin.

The family will welcome friends for visitation Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rickman First Baptist Church, 385 Rickman Monterey Highway, Rickman, Tennessee, and again on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the church.  Funeral Service for Mrs. Joann Hargis will be Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Rickman First Baptist Church, Rickman, Tennessee officiated by Pastor Jeff Monday.  Interment will immediately follow the Funeral Service in the Rickman Memorial Gardens.
