Joanne Callaghan Obituary

Joanne Callaghan

July 3, 1939 – June 30, 2025

Joanne Callaghan, 85, passed away on Monday, June 30th, surrounded by her children.  Joanne leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.

Joanne was the cherished older sister to the late Dennis Olivieri, the late Nelson Olivieri, and David Olivieri.  She was the loving mother to Toni (Byron) Beasley, John Callaghan, Jr., Thomas Callaghan, and Michael (Christi) Callaghan.  Joanne was devoted to her 15 grandchildren and her 22 great-grandchildren.

Joanne’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She remembered them on their birthdays and every holiday.  Joanne was a celebrated cook and baker.  Her family and friends always enjoyed her delicious treats, especially during the holidays.  She loved to dance and treasured getting together with her good friends.

Joanne’s life was filled with deep connections.  Her friendship was a gift, bringing joy and comfort to those around her and she will be deeply missed by all of us.  Her spirit will live on in our hearts and our fond memories.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 19515 115th Avenue, Mokena, IL 60448.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m.

To Joanne's entire family, my condolences to you all of you during this difficult time. I have so many great memories of Joanne from my childhood thru my adulthood. She was always fun to be around whether it was just thru a conversation or a family gathering. She hosted me at her home on weekends and summer breaks while I was in my grammar school years. Yes, a terrific cook and baker. Every Christmas holiday she would make me my own tin of Christmas cookies for I enjoyed them so much. Her specialty was chocolate chip cookies. May she rest in God's peace and may God's perpetual light always shine upon her.
