John “Caleb” Phillips, 39, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on August 4, 2025. Born on July 17, 1986 in Lebanon Indiana, Caleb brought laughter, loyalty, and a quiet strength to everyone who knew him.
Caleb graduated from Lebanon High School in 2005 and went on to attend Vincennes University followed by Marian University. For the past four years, he worked in logistics at Spot Inc., most recently as an Account Executive. He was admired for his dedication, professionalism, and easygoing nature.
He shared a one-of-a-kind bond with his twin brother, Zach, and proudly embraced his title as the “Funkle” (fun uncle) to his adored niece and nephew, Elsie and Deacon. Though he showed love in subtle ways, those close to him always felt the depth of his care.
A die-hard fan of Indiana sports, Caleb rarely missed a Colts or Pacers game. He had a deep love for live music and found real joy in the energy of a good concert of any genre.
Survivors include his parents, Pam (Terry) Frederiksen and John (Nancy) Phillips; brother Zach (Shelby) Phillips, step-brothers Matthew (Amanda) Frederiksen and Michael Frederiksen, nephew Deacon, and nieces Elsie, Hannah, Danika and Rayna. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many close friends who were as close as family to him.
Caleb was preceded in death by his grandparents Tom and Mary Lou Phillips, and Bill and Mildred LaGrange.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 11, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana, followed by a short Celebration of Life service at 6:30 PM. The family would like to respect Caleb’s “care-free vibe”, so please come as you are, wearing whatever makes you feel comfortable.
In honor of Caleb’s life and legacy, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Indiana, an organization committed to supporting those affected by epilepsy through education, advocacy, and community programs.
Caleb’s dry sense of humor, unwavering loyalty and his inability to be anything other than forthright will be deeply missed by all who had the gift of knowing him.

We hung out a few times outside of work and Caleb was always a ball of fun. We connected due to his love of concerts. He once told me about a Jay Z and Beyonce concert he went to and we immediately had something in common due to my love for Beyonce lol. Caleb will never be forgotten and I send my deepest condolences to his beloved family and close friends. God Bless!
