Josephine Avallone Obituary

We were so lucky to grow up by being welcomed and spoiled by Josephine Avallone and many other absolutely wonderful Italian Mothers and Joey’s sister Lucille on or close to West End Ave. Any time you encountered any of the Moms you were asked how we were, how was you day and were we hungry. Of course we enjoyed the grand cooking and
marvelous treats. So lucky to have this kindness as we were growing very up. We felt safe and loved. Truly enjoy the wonderful memories that you shared.

She was a wonderful lady! Kathy and I would like to offer our deepest sympathy for her family. She will be missed by the so many people whose lives she touched!

I want to express my condolences to the entire family for the loss of your mother. Over the years, She and I had wonderful conversations, especially, how she loved her family and how proud she was of her family. Josephine was a wonderful woman who my mom knew from Intorcia's in the mornings. Went to school with Tony and knew Frank, Paula and daughters . May she rest in peace.

Josephine's smile and warm personality was a gift to us. My mother, Marion, would buy her delicious Italian Roll at the Annual St. James Fair. Then, after my mother's passing, she decided to give me her recipe. To make sure I did it correctly, she invited me to her house to give me the recipe and share her hints about making it. When, I make it, I always remember her...and I believe she is right next to me making it. My deepest condolences to all the Avallones. Janet Zando

I am so very sorry to hear of Jo's passing. I just loved her. She always had a kind word and a kinder smile. I was honored to have known her for 16 years. She brought joy to the workday when she came into the office for an appointment. She never left without a hug. She will be missed. My prayers to her loving family. May she rest in peace. I hope heaven is all that she knew it would be.

I’m so proud I got to meet Josephine and I will miss her singing Happy Birthday to me and I sang Zippty Do Da to her for her Birthday and just chatting with each other now and then and so thankful her daughter Nancy marrying my son Dennis . I will miss you Jo until we meet again.

Josephine would always wish us a good time when I would come up from the avenue and stop and get
you and Lenny. We would then continue on to the ball diamond or down the street across from Vinney's
and play baseball all afternoon. She was such a good mother to all of you. May she find eternal peace with God.

I have many fond memories of your mom from the strong connection my family had of the Adelaide St neighborhood and the St. James Catholic Church. I look back now and realize what a blessing it was to grow up around such wonderful people such as your mom. Oh no this sweet lady once let me in when I was walking the trail down by her home and a young man tried to mug me. I loved stopping to say Hello to her in passings . She always gave me a hug and welcomed one back. She will be trily missed . We will meet again on the other side my friend !

I am so sorry to hear of Josephine’s passing. I haven’t seen her in years but have held her in my heart throughout those years. She was a lovely woman and whenever I saw her, there was a warm embrace. And knowing we both had a strong love for the NY Yankees, I would often think of her while watching a game. Grandma was the sweetest and made everyone feel loved and valued. She was such a joy to be around and her sweet spirit was infectious. I will miss her dearly and cling to the promise that I’ll see her again in heaven.
