Joyce Ann Lavigne Bailey departed peacefully on May 21, 2025. She lived with dementia for a number of years. Although this disease may have clouded many of the memories she cherished, it never diminished her strong personality or the ability to express herself. As a beacon of compassion and grace; Joyce was always ready for a conversation with those she encountered, greeting them with a beaming smile and warm heart.
Joyce was born on September 6, 1948 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to the late Melvin and Joyce Lynn Lavigne. Being among family and the extended family of neighbors in the tight knit community of Ville Platte fostered in her, from a young age, a strong work ethic, laughter, the art of conversation and a love for people.
Joyce moved to the McNair Community of Baytown, Texas while still in High School. She was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver. Although she returned to Louisiana for a few years, Joyce chose Houston, Texas as the city she would call home, raise her growing family and develop enduring friendships.
She will be missed by family and those whose lives she has touched.

Family, The Lord sustains each of you with His righteous hand. Ann and I grew up as sisters in Ville Platte. We lived next door to each other for several years. We grew up in a loving, caring neighborhood. In the coming days, weeks, months and years, let us reflect on the fond memories of Joyce Ann Lavigne Bailey.
