Ms. Sutherland was the best math teacher I ever had at Paris High school.
She demanded respect, preparation, and attention in class. She was a true mentor and she expected each student to succeed. No greater teacher ever and Paris was very lucky to have had her. She touched and inspired so many lives in such a caring way. I will never forget her.

Her legacy will live on in all her knew her.
May God be with you.

She was one of the most formative teachers (and persons!) of my life! A truly remarkable, intelligent, compassionate, supportive teacher determined that we ALL learn to think critically and live our lives to the fullest. What a great role model and teacher of so many life lessons. When I graduated Paris High School in 1974 she gave us all plaques "May God grant me the courage to change the things I can, accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference"...Rest in peace, oh beautiful soul! We will always remember you!

Fifty years later, I still remember one of Ms. Sutherland’s favorite sayings: “Look at what you want. Look at what you’ve got. Fix what you’ve got to get what you want—legally.” Great suggestion for algebra as well as life. She was a wonderful, dedicated teacher. May she rest in peace. My condolences to the family.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ms. Sutherland. She is a rare gift, an extraordinary teacher who made an incredible impact on so many lives. I am fortunate to have her in my life, making math understandable, forever changed by her guidance. As a student you wanted to succeed, not just for yourself but for her. She not only had a passion for teaching but inspired students to believe in themselves, challenge themselves and strive for more. “Don’t sit there like a bump on a pickle”

I was a student at Paris High School and had Ms Sutherland for Algebra ii. She was an outstanding teacher and I always thought if only I had had her throughout my years of education at PHS for mathematics I would truly understand the magic of math! She was a remarkable teacher and individual.

What a wonderful lady. She was one of my son's favorite teachers. She even wrote a letter stating her praise for my son which was instrumently in getting him into the university he selected. This lady was a devoted educator and there are countless former students that benefited from her dedication to her students, and my son was so fortunate to have her. Thank God for such a wonderful, Christian lady who gave her all.
