Justin Joe Dixon Obituary

KINGSPORT, TN – JUSTIN JOE DIXON, AGE 69

1 Peter 5:10

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

Our sweet and special brother, Justin Joe Dixon, received his Heavenly wings on Friday, August 1, 2025 and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Joe was born on June 19, 1956 to Roy and Lakie Dixon of Hiltons, VA. At age 5 he was placed in a foster home and raised with several more of his siblings in Nickelsville, VA. He graduated from Twin Springs High School. While there he traveled to Lake Tahoe with his special education class. He participated in the skiing event and came home with 2 gold medals of which he was so proud of.

Joe was always such a kind soul and always humble. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.

He later moved to Kingsport where he resided in an apartment until his health got really bad and was called to his Heavenly home.

Preceding him in death were his mom & dad; his foster mother, Clarene Addington; brothers, Kelly, Paul and Harold Dixon; and sister, Annalee Dixon.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Jim & Sheila Dixon, Everett & Virginia Dixon, and Bobby & Vickie Dixon; sisters, Bernice & William Bowen, Linda Flanary, Ruth & Bobby Lane, Violet &Roger Bowen, Maxie & Steve Rhoton, Edith Finkle, Becky Arnold, and his twin sister, Judy & R.C. Bowen; foster sister, Ila Beard; foster brother, Gary Addington; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home. Service will begin at 2 PM with Rev. William Bowen and Rev. Danny Sykes officiating. Music will be provided by Dale Smith. Interment will follow at Gardner’s Chapel Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
