Kathleen Roberts Obituary

Kathleen R. Roberts (nee McGrory) AKA “Kathy” AKA “Kate” passed away peacefully at home in Cherry Hill, NJ on June 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.  Kate was 80 years old.

Beloved wife of 33 years to Wayne S. Roberts.  Loving mother of Ryan McCabe, Nathan (Serena) McCabe, Dawn Roberts, Eve (Adam) Marano and Laura Roberts (Paul Dawson).  Devoted grandmother of Nicole Marano.  Kate is also survived by her sister, Mary (the late Roy) Chandler and was predeceased by her brother, Francis McGrory and a sister, Patricia (the late Skip) McKenna.

Kate was raised in Audubon, attending St. Rose grammar school in Haddon Heights and graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1962.  She was an integral member of the Audubon Bon-Bons All Girl Drum & Bugle Corps from 1956-1963 where she made many lifelong friends and accomplished being one of the top four teams in the United States in 1957-1958.

Kate started her working career in 1963 as a secretary at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and then as secretary for the Science and Research Department at the University of Pennsylvania.  She continued her career as a stewardess on charter airplanes for Capital Airlines, traveling throughout the US, Europe and the Far East.  Kate started a company named Technitype from her home.  It prepared mathematical textbooks for printing with all of the large publishing houses in New York.  She found, hired and trained ladies to initially work parttime on typewriters from their homes.   As computers came of age, she learned, taught and housed her company on Kings Highway in Cherry Hill, NJ.   A silent partner took over years later and Kate found an opportunity with a large law firm in Philadelphia.  Kate eventually retired from Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoades Law Firm in Philadelphia where she served as the manager of word processing and the manager of secretarial services.  Following retirement she worked over several years at Stradley Ronan as a secretarial/clerical assistant part time, again meeting new friends that are still close to her heart.

Kate enjoyed having fun and spending time with family and friends.  She was always up for a good conversation and known for being the best listener.  Music was always a passion for Kate—especially opera, popular groups, country and religious groups.  She also loved to travel, golf and do puzzles at home.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kate’s visitation on Monday, June 30, 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM from CHRIST THE KING CHURCH, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ.  Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kate’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org) and/or the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
