Kenneth Kinter Sr. Obituary
Kenneth “Ted” Kinter was born in Trenton, NJ and died at his home in Lawrenceville, NJ after a short and brave fight with cancer. He was born to Thomas and Lillian Kinter in Trenton and was the youngest sibling of Thomas, Lenore, Betty, and Timothy. He was raised in North Crosswicks, NJ, graduating from Hamilton High West and from Western Maryland College with a bachelor’s in education. He played baseball in the famous “Little Bigger League”. He taught at Steinert High School for 34 years and was head of their English Dept. He also taught in the A/V Dept., running the school’s local cable channel. He was an extremely successful soccer coach for Steinert, being inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025. He held leadership roles in the New Jersey and Hamilton Township Educators’ Associations, tirelessly advocating for better conditions for the students, teachers, and staff. He was an avid bowler, boater, and fisherman and was a member of the Brant Beach Yacht Club. He and his longtime partner, Carol, split their time between Lawrenceville and Long Beach Island. He never lost his love of Crosswicks, giving talks about the factual/fictional history of the area for the Historical Society.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings and is survived by his partner Carol R. Kish, his children Kenneth and Jeffrey, daughter-in laws PJ and Karen, his grandchildren Jackson and Bryce, as well as countless loving nephews, cousins, in-laws, “out-laws” and everyone whose life touched his.

My family has rented the LBI house from Ted and Carol for the past 9 yrs. and we were always greeted like old friends. We would chat at the house often and share stories and laughs. Ted was a wonderful man and host. He was always ready with a smile and loved to speak of his assorted aquatic creatures he cared for in the aquarium . We will miss him. Our stay coming up won't be the same without him there. Karen and Jon and family

Our family rented from Ted & Carol for years and they always made us feel like visiting family, not just renters. Ted would take our boys to the bay to get fish and other creatures, and teach them all about them from the aquarium in his beloved garage. He was the best, and we will miss his stories and our visits with him dearly. Sending our love to Carol and the family.

Ted was a wonderful friend, neighbor, sailing buddy, fellow car nut and pie party host. He was always happy and upbeat, and we looked forward to seeing him and Carol every season at the Shore to catch up from the past winter and see what fish he'd gathered for his garage aquarium, as well as what treasures he'd gathered from his tours around the neighborhood. We'll miss him terribly. Our deepest sympathy to Carol, his family and friends.

Ted’s humor and wit will always be with all of us that were blessed to teach and work with him. I learned so much about how to be a positive educator from Ted. He also helped me to be involved in the HTEA and make a positive difference for all of the teachers and students in the district.
Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.
