Leo Edward Mahan, son of James L. and Alice J. (Bradley) Mahan was born on the Mahan farm south of Graettinger, Iowa on June 5, 1944.  He received his education in Graettinger, graduating from Graettinger High School in 1963.  Following high school, Leo worked at the elevator in Graettinger.


Leo was united in marriage to Linda Houser and they were blessed with a son, Tony and daughter, Tammy.  Leo was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger.


Leo was employed at John Morrell in Estherville for nearly ten years and then began driving truck which he did for most of his life. He was still currently working for West Fork Ag.  


Leo loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.  You might even find Leo enjoying a cold beer every now and then.  He loved spending time with his family and he looked forward to attending area sales.  Leo also helped at the campground by the motorcycle rally, during the 4th of July.


Leo passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at his home in Graettinger, Iowa, at the age of 81.   He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Mahan; brothers, Edward and Dale in infancy and Donald Mahan; sisters, Evelyn Peterson, Rozela Loder, Frances Mundon and Bernice Weber; and Tony and Tammy’s mother, Linda.


He is survived by his children, Tony Mahan and his wife, Kristina of Mabelvale, Arkansas and Tammy White and her husband, Danny of Damascus, Arkansas; grandchildren, Raymond White and his wife, Christa, Taylor Mahan and Gunner Mahan; great grandson, Harvey White; a brother, James Mahan of Norwalk, Iowa; sisters, Alice Gibson of Dickens, Iowa, Lois Weber and her husband, Richard of Graettinger, Iowa and Dorothy Mahan-Cooper and her husband, Dean of Twin Falls, Idaho; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
