Linville Wayne Shipman, known to family and friends as "Lin," was born on June 10, 1946, to parents Ernest Shipman and Estella White. He passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, with his beloved wife Karon, by his side.
Lin was proud to be an American and loved his country, joining the United States Airforce in 1967 at the early age of twenty-one. Lin served in the Air Force as a pilot for more than eight years earning the rank of sergeant. He proudly adorned his United State Air Force cap.
Lin had a passion for sports, mostly the Astros. If the Astros were not playing on his television, you could bet another sport was. He was a family man and enjoyed the family’s annual summer trip to Concan where they would spend their time floating the river, swimming in the pool, dancing, and making memories to last forever. There wasn’t anything Lin wouldn’t do for his grandchildren, like dancing on the fireplace, giving foot rubs, attending school events, and giving the best hugs.
He was a loving father, whose proudest moment was watching his son’s build a family of their own. He was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family. Most of all, Lin was a devoted husband to Karon. He came into Karon’s life when she needed him the most. She was the love of his life. He restored life and love to her heart. Together they built a home filled with laughter, support, and enduring partnership.
Lin is survived by his loving wife, Karon of 24 years, son Marcus Skains and wife Britteny, son Mathew Skains and wife Courtney, and son Linville Wayne Shipman. He was a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren, Brianna, Layne, Luke, Ashlynn, and Kaelynn, and one great granddaughter Charlotte. He is the brother to John Shipman of Florida, Villa Shipman Rogers and husband Graham of Jones Creek and brother Larry Shipman and wife Maria of New York. Lin is preceded in death by his parents Ernest Shipman and Estella White, sister Peggy Shipman Dew, and brother Joe Shipman.
Lin was loved by many, his sisters-in-law Kathy Perry and her husband and Lin’s close friend, James, Sandy Beeson and husband Garvin, the favorite sister-in-law, Pat Powell, and honorary sister April Thompson, brother-in-law Wayne Walker and wife Vickie, and Roger Walker and wife Jackie.
Lin’s kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. His friends and family remember him as a man of great integrity and warmth.
