Lucy Groblewski Obituary

GROBLEWSKI – Lucy D. (Schmidt) passed away suddenly on May 29, 2025, in Lancaster, NY.  Married to Richard Groblewski for 52 years with three daughters; Betsy (Greg) Young, Erin (Anthony) Puntoriero and Molly (Steven) Kime; grandmother to Sophia, Ethan, Lily, Brayden, Anthony and Alessandro.  Lucy was the daughter of Mary and Donald Schmidt and one of six children.  Sibling to Beverly (Gerald) Elsa (George), Mary Susan (Christopher), late Karl (Linda), Peggy (Bernard).  Lucy was born and raised in Cowlesville, NY, and moved to Depew, NY.  She met her high school sweetheart (Depew HS class ’71) Richard and they married in 1973.  Lucy was a stay-at-home mom, and for years helped many families with their childcare needs.  Lucy was so giving and creative.  She sent cards for every occasion, and put her hand decorated Easter eggs at every place setting.  She made beaded bracelets for every woman she wanted to sparkle like her.  She taught us even on tough days, try to keep your sparkle.  Family will receive relatives and friends at the WENDEL & LOECHER INC. FUNERAL HOME 27 Aurora St. Lancaster, NY Sunday June 8th from 12-2pm.  Flowers gratefully declined.  Share condolences at wendelandloecherinc.com

I was shocked to hear of my cousin Lucy's sudden death. I am the oldest of our cousins and Lucy was one of the youngest, so this just feels so wrong. I remember when we were living in Cowlesville next door to the Schmidt family and we all played together every day. Before Karl and Peggy were born she was "The Baby" and a bit relegated to that role. But as she grew older, I was so proud of how she became such a special caring and thoughtful woman. She will be missed by so many of us. Rest in Peace Lulu Bell...

We were blessed with Lucy’s care and her family who became our family. Kim and Jimmy have wonderful memories of their days with Lucy. She taught them so much, including how to play poker! Most of all she showed us love and support. Lucy’s creativity was amazing as was her beautiful smile.
We will miss and love her forever.

Words cannot express how many people feel the sadness of this beautiful, special persons passing. Lucy was a friend to everyone. Her smile greeted every residents family at Bristol village when she was receptionist, her friendships continued with so many. The love she had for Richard and her family and grandchildren was profound. May she rest in peace. The stars are alittle brighter with another sparkle in heaven. My sincere sympathies and prayers.
