Mark Orban Obituary

Mark Orban

Age 70, of Highland, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025.

Mark was a 1973 graduate of Lake Central High School and where he met his wife Linda. A skilled and passionate mechanic from small engines to trains, he was always ready to lend a hand in this area especially to his sons. Taking time to train them with his knowledge he had acquired as an expert mechanic. He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends, often sharing his grilling expertise, stories, and great bbq. He had his own orchard in his yard, consisting of apples, pears, and peaches in honor of his father. His friends in his neighborhood named him “the mayor“ and often he was seen riding around on his scooter visiting and helping in any way that was needed.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Linda Orban; four devoted sons: Jan and his son Grayson of Highland, IN; Keith (Stephanie) and their son Ethin of Highland, IN; Neil (Delana) and their daughters Autumn and Evelyn of Valparaiso, IN; and Chris (Melissa) of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Loggins of Lowell, IN, and his brother, Brian Orban of Wheatfield, IN. Preceded in death by his parents, William Orban and Lillian Orban; brother, Jeff Orban.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Words of Remembrance may be shared at 3:00 PM. Services conclude at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.

Mark will be remembered for his generous spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family.

I met Mark and Linda at the little dirt track in Schererville a few years ago. It was fun chatting and sharing the experience watching his sons and grandsons race and jump their dirt bikes. It was very clear to me that this represented a big part of his life, passion and legacy. He spoke with real pride and enthusiasm about each of the family present and said that the ones that were not there that day would have been in the thick of things if they were there. I met him there several time again and each & every time we were together I always saw the same focus --- Family First !!

I hope and pray that his family legacy lives on!

Mark was a great guy, always friendly. I enjoyed playing basketball with him all the way through high school. He always liked to tinker with electronics in his basement, work on his Mustang in the garage and ride his mini bike (and Brian’s motorcycle) around the neighborhood. He also liked to go ride horses at Gannon’s farm. I haven’t seen Mark since I moved out of the area after school but will never forget him. Good person from a good family.
