Mr. Joseph George Obituary

Joseph George Jr. was born on March 4, 1943, in Roanoke, Louisiana to Joseph and Hattie George, Sr. Joseph departed this life at the age of 82 on Thursday October 9, 2025 at 11:50 in the morning, with his loving wife by his side, surrounded by his family and friends at Baptist Memorial Hermann in Beaumont, Texas.

Early in Joseph's childhood the George family relocated from Louisiana to Texas in 1949. He spent most of his formative years in the Winnie/Stowell area, and being born into a large family their childhood was one never with a dull moment. They were a very active and adventurous bunch.  Joseph attended George Washington Carver High School in Anahuac. He was an exceptional athlete and was a member of the George Washington Caver Eagles football team where he played the position of lineman. Their team went on to win numerous district titles and make many deep playoff runs. He also was a member of the fighting Eagles basketball team as well.  Joseph graduated from Carver High School in 1964.

Joseph married the love of his life Evelyn Jane Guillory in December of 1991 and enjoyed 33 years of holy matrimony.

Joseph was employed with Texaco Sulfur Oilfield for many years as a Flowhand Specialist, which took him to various locations during his tenure with the company from Moss Bluff, Wharton, Odessa, Fort Stockton, and El Paso. He then went on to be employed with Keys Oilfield until his retirement in 2012.

Joseph had an avid love for nature and was a natural outdoors man. It was many times he and Evelyn could be found somewhere fishing. It didn't matter where it was early or late if there was a line to cast they were there. Adventure was often only a trip away, as they loved to take to the road and vacation. From the Grand Canyon to Colorado, Montana, Las Vegas, California, and Wyoming just to name a few. He also found peace in just taking a ride without a destination, seeing just where the road led them and enjoying every moment along the way as they discovered new sights and sounds and finding all the short cuts. He also loved to show his support for his grandkids through their various activities. Even though they will argue and swear Trevor was favorite he supported them all. Whether it was basketball, or football, from annual trips to Tyler, to wherever Friday night lights led, to dressed in Red supporting his favorite Razorback,  it didn't matter where or how far his presence was felt showing his support and  beaming with pride.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hattie George, Sr.; sister, Beatrice Delcour, Anna Denton, and Vera Harmon; brothers, J.B. George, L.J. George, Edward George, L.C. George, and Willie George, and granddaughter, Carly Thomas.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years, Evenly George; daughter, Mary Hale (Casey); Son, Billy Thomas (Carla); seven grandchildren, Jason Thomas, Jacueline King, Jeremy Batiste, Billy Thomas, Jr., Tramain Thomas, Charla Thomas, and Trevor Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Candace Thomas, Jasmine Batiste, Tedrick Marshall, Jr., Serenity Mitchell, Carli Williams, and Jason Thomas, Jr.; sister, Hattie Sanders; brothers, Mack George (Paula), and J.W. George (Rose) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives and friends.
