Mr. Richard Gerald Johnson, Sr passed on February 12, 2025.  Always the protector and provider, Rich would go out of his way for anyone he knew.  His relationship with God and dedication kept him driving for hours on end but he always tried to make time to enjoy with his family and friends.  Whether it was jumping in his boat, fishing, skin diving, catching lobster, going to the movies or just sitting around watching Grit TV, one could feel his lighter side.  This was especially true when he was relating the stories of his adventures to family and friends.

As a man with an interest in all kinds of music, he would love to sing “you are the devil in disguise” and other songs as he would drive down the road.  His vast knowledge of the Country’s roads and Florida's mile markers could always be relied on to help anyone out of a jam.

Always carrying himself with confidence and intelligence, others could look to him for insight and good advice.  As a respected businessman, he was often asked to train others and excelled in everything he undertook.  From Culinary Arts to arranging cars on his car hauler he undertook every endeavor with pride.

Rich was honorably discharged from both the Army and the Navy.  During his time in service, he and his fellow service members were literally the “boots on the ground.” His valiant service was recognized when he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Metal with Device and Air Metal and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.  His bravery and his commitment to the freedom of our nation were evident to anyone around him.

Rich is survived by his loving wife, Stella; his 3 children, Richard, Jr., Jodie and Melissa and his 4 grandchildren.  All that knew him will miss him greatly.

In his heart a man plans his course

But the Lord directs his steps.

Richard was such an amazing man and brought so much join to everyone he came in contact with. Being his neighbor has been an honor and I feel blessed to have been a part of his life. We will see you again one day.

Richie was a great guy and a good friend. I'll miss my afternoons with him in the garage feeding the squirrels talking about all sorts of things. Lindy and Angelo Suszynski
