Perry attended grade school in Klemme and high school in Belmond graduating in 1973. Upon graduation he entered the United State Army where he proudly served until 1977. While in the service he was stationed in Colorado and Alaska with the rank of Spec 4 and Spec 5. During his Army tenure he received several outstanding accommodations and recognitions. He also served in the Fairbanks Police Department as a reserve Police Officer. Upon returning to the states, he worked at Iowa Mold and Tool, IMT, Winnebago, Stellar and Hagie.
Perry later moved to Des Moines where he became a paramedic. He started working as an ER Tech at the Iowa Methodist Hospital. A job he truly enjoyed. While there he met his significant other and constant companion of many years, Dee. Perry held many roles in the American Legion Family, He was Department Vice Commander, District Commander, and Commander of the Goodell Post 420. He was very proud of the Goodell Unit.
Perry's greatest role was playing Santa to everyone for many years. Perry and Dee especially enjoyed going to the Iowa Veterans Home as Mr. and Mrs. Santa.
Perry never met a stranger. He was loved by everyone. He was working at Fareway at the time of his death.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, sister Vicki, brother Keith, nieces Jenny, his beloved grandparents and a host of friends.

Everyone who ever met Perry knows that he was quite possibly the kindest person who ever lived. He always had a hand out to help others, whether they were family, friends, or complete strangers, and he always had a joke or a funny story to tell to anyone who would listen. Those who took the time to listen to his stories know that Perry lived a full and interesting life, on his own terms; the fact that it was so tragically cut short makes this loss all the more devastating.
The world will be a darker place without Perry. His absence will be felt every day. My thoughts are with his family and everyone else who loved him.
Farewell, my friend. You will be sorely missed.
