Michael Kecskes Obituary
Michael William Kecskes, age 67 of Commerce Twp. died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his dear wife Jenny.
Mike was a gentle soul who was eager to lend a helping hand. Quiet and self contained he went about his life with little fanfare but with a good heart. As the first grandson on both sides of the family he was a much celebrated little guy who was the star of many homemade movies.
At the age of 18 he entered the United States Navy and trained as a signalman.
While stationed in San Diego, California the Navy took him to the Philippines, Taiwan, Pusan, Korea, Okinawa, Japan and other locations in the South China Sea.
Disabled while in the service he returned to Michigan in 1980 where he later met and married his beloved wife, Jenny. They made a home together and were always ready to help out with their nieces and nephews. Mike was a prolific gardener. If he couldn't grow it, it probably couldn't be grown in Michigan. He had a deep and abiding faith which influenced all his actions and guided his life. He became interested in coin collecting and was proud to show his most interesting pieces and share their provenance. He never forgot a birthday. You always got a card and a call from Mike. He welcomed people to his home for all occasions. He and his wife Jenny were a great support to Mike's mother Jean in her later years. Mike and Jean shared the same birthday. Jean passed away earlier this year, and Mike has now joined her in the stars, along with his father Bill and his sister Lynn who preceded him in death.
He is in good hands.
Mike is survived in life by his wife of 20 years, Jenny, his brother Wayne, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Burial Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly MI.
