Robert Thomas Walsh, age 78, of Middletown, husband of Judith (Hall) Walsh passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer on January 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Robert (Bob) was born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late John and Gladys (Brown) Walsh.
Bob earned a B.S. in Finance at the University of Arizona. His academic life was followed by service in the Army National Guard in Western Massachusetts.
After a career as a manager in Home Health Services, Bob turned his attention to the financial market and successfully built a career as a financial advisor first for A.G. Edwards and later with Wells Fargo. He dedicated many years of service to helping others with their financial futures. The best years of his life happened when Bob and Judy relocated to Middletown from Manchester. They met wonderful neighbors, and enjoyed biking and birding on the Connecticut shore, as well as hiking with their beloved rescue dog, Chienne. After Bob retired, he turned his talents to helping others in the Middletown community. First, he worked for VITA, where he did income taxes for eligible people and later, he used his talents for fund raising. He spearheaded the participation of St. Vincent de Paul in Middletown in the Foodshare Walk Against Hunger. For three years he effectively led Middletown teams with a high turnout of volunteers and funds for St. Vincent de Paul.
Besides his wife Judy, Bob is survived by his two sons, Jason Walsh and his partner, Marie Markovic, of California, and Andrew Walsh and his wife, Tracey, of Alabama, his step-daughter, Elizabeth Titus and her husband, Jeremy of Durham, CT, and his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Shay, and Sam. Bob is also survived by three of his brothers, Jack Walsh of Arkansas, Dennis Walsh and his wife, Julie, of Kentucky, and George Walsh and his wife, Barbara, of South Carolina. His beloved brother Ron predeceased him in 2012. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service honoring Bob will be held at the Biega Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5, at 12:00 PM. The family invites friends to a reception at 75 Acer Drive, Middletown, CT, following the service. The burial is private. Bob, our birding trips won't be the same without your enthusiasm and sharp eye, not to mention the wonderful cookies you always brought. The four of us enjoyed some of the simplest pleasures in life--eagle watching, visiting museums, picnicking, and walking on the beach. Whenever we're out doing these things, we will think of you. And we will miss you dearly... Nancy and Michael Simonds

We were so blessed to have Bob as our neighbor, but we were more blessed to call him our friend. When I was sick and in the hospital, you and Bob were so caring to both Chris and myself. I will never forget Bob’s famous applesauce, it truly was the best!!! We will remember Bob with a smile on his face and hold him close to our hearts. We are always here for you Judy

I worked with Bob for many years at Homedco. He was a fabulous guy who always had a big heart. Later on I would have him manage my $$ at AG Edwards. May he rest in peace

Dear Andrew and Jason, I am sorry to read about your father’s passing. I know it’s been a long time since I saw Andrew when he was visiting Madison, but I always remember the kind words Andrew said about my father, and now you have lost yours. I will always remember, your grandmother, mom, and you both when we were young kids. My sympathies to you both and your stepmother.

Dear Judy and family, i was so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. My heart breaks for you. It's not an easy road to travel. He was so good to my mom, (you both were!), especially in her later and final years. It was of great comfort to me knowing that she had such lovely and caring neighbors. May there be some comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering. Love is eternal, and his spirit is free. Hugs to you. Judy Dawe
