Sandra “Sandy” Jean Swift, age 85, former longtime resident of Park Ridge, Illinois, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength.
Sandra was the beloved wife of the late Lyell Swift, and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and deep companionship. After Lyell’s passing, Sandra took up playing the piano, showing her enduring curiosity and love for learning.
She was the devoted mother of Susan (the late Dennis) Bilinski. Sandy was preceded in death by her cherished parents, John and Elenor, and her dear sisters, Joan Bennett and Sonja Maki.
Sandy had a joyful and spirited approach to life. A devoted Chicago Cubs fan, always cheering with loyalty and hope. She stayed active well into her later years, participating in a variety of clubs that reflected her many interests—chess, walking, and writing among them. Her mind stayed sharp with daily crossword puzzles, and her heart full from the simple pleasures—especially dinners at Bakers Square, which she enjoyed multiple times a week with friends.
Those who knew Sandra would describe her as one of the kindest souls they had ever met. Her gentle nature, gracious spirit, and genuine kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and always admired.
Visitation, Friday, July 18, 11:00 a.m., until the time of the Funeral Service, 12:00 p.m., Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Rd. Park Ridge. Interment to follow at Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge.

Sandy was a gentle, compassionate woman. The smile and twinkle in her eyes
are a happy memory of times shared in our community group. Great surprise and delight when she shared being part of a pit crew, changing tires for the racing cars. She lived with a grateful heart for
God’s faithful love in Christ.
