Shanta McKay Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude for his life, we announce that Shanta McKay, at the age of 46, entered into the eternal presence of the Lord on September 8, 2025.

Born on March 4, 1979, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Connie and Ron McKay, Shanta grew into a man whose presence could light up any room. In 2019, he made the greatest decision of his life—giving his heart to Christ—forever sealing his hope in eternity.

Shanta was a man of unshakable work ethic, boundless resilience, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his calling. He carried within him a unique balance of wisdom and humor, always knowing how to lift a heavy spirit with laughter or guide someone with a word of truth.

More than his accomplishments, Shanta’s life was marked by his love for people. Whether through his work, a helping hand, or a simple act of kindness, he lived with the determination to be a blessing. Even in his passing, his selfless spirit continues—Shanta chose to give the gift of life to others through organ donation. He impacted lives in ways that were seen and unseen.

Shanta was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. To know him was to be touched by his generosity, his joy, and his faith. Though he has gone home to be with the Lord, his memory will remain forever etched in our hearts.

Shanta McKay leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. He is survived by his devoted father, Ronald McKay, and his beloved fiancée, Summer Sullivan, along with her children, Emma and Jasmine, whom he cherished dearly. Shanta was preceded in death by his loving mother, Connie McKay, and his caring stepmother, Doris McKay. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings, Jerrod McKay (Shermelle) and Tangent Johnson (John), and his aunts and uncles, Tyrone McKay (Kay) and Veronica McKay. His memory will also live on through his cousins, Tyronica McKay and Max Carter, as well as a host of nieces and nephews including William Shelton (Jasmine), Ryan Shelton (Angel), Shaniya McKay, Blake McKay, Constance Johnson, Jalynn Johnson (Christian), Yancey McKay, Gabrielle Johnson, and Sumerlyn Johnson. The love Shanta poured into his family continues through his great-nieces and nephews, Bill Shelton, Layla Shelton, Kaeson Johnson, Chosen Shelton, Hazel, and Stormi. In addition, Shanta took pride in rearing and guiding two children as his own, Aaliyah and Shamir Williams.
