Violet Bruner Obituary

Newtown - Violet Joan (Crowder) Bruner, 92, formerly of Newtown, passed away in the Aster Place, Lafayette, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 2:30 a.m.
    Joan, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Fountain County, Indiana on October 1, 1932.  She was the daughter of the late Eston and Dorine (Newnum) Crowder.  Joan was raised in Parke County and attended Grange Corner and Tangier schools.  Joan was a homemaker and also worked mowing yards in the Newtown area and baking pies for the former Newtown Grocery Store.
    Joan enjoyed crocheting and gardening.  She enjoyed mowing yards and was an excellent baker.
    On October 20 1949, Joan married Bobby Bruner in Rockville, IN.  Bobby preceded her in death on October 2, 1998.
    Joan leaves behind a daughter, Karen (Dan) Best, Attica; two granddaughters, Melissa (Tim) Shaw, Attica and Sonja (Brad) Linback, Attica; two sisters, Clara Norman, Farmer City, IL and Sandy Paxton, Crawfordsville; five great-grandchildren, Kendra, Corina, Cheyann, Patric and Katya; four great great-grandchildren, Ayva, William, Bindi and Vera.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Max, Rex and Wayne Crowder along with three sisters, Betty Schneider, Galena Groetsch and Margaret Martz.
    Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating.  Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, IN.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
