Wilbur Potter Obituary

Wilbur Daniel “Dan” Potter
October 12, 1929 – September 24, 2025

Wilbur Daniel “Dan” Potter, 95, of Wolfeboro, NH, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at Taylor Community's Back Bay campus. Born on October 12, 1929, in Montgomery, NY to Walter Precival (Walter) Potter, born August 30th, 1902 and Helen Isabel (Fall) Potter, born March 12th, 1905.  Dan lived a long, full life grounded in family and faith.

A proud veteran, Dan served his country as a United States Marine during the Korean War.  He landed at Incheon with General McArthur, liberated Seoul, fought his way to the Chosin Reservoir, ultimately stopping at the Yalu River.  He wore many hats in his life; worked tirelessly on a dairy farm, provided security, drove a delivery ‘box truck’, and served as a devoted caretaker at Rochester Elementary School.
Dan was known for his quiet strength, humor, many stories, and deep devotion to his family. He was a selfless man who always put others before himself. His strong work ethic and steadfast character left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Dan was a faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in New Durham, NH.

Dan’s siblings were Robert Potter (deceased), Myron Potter (deceased), Donald (Don) Potter (deceased), Francis (Fran) Potter Carson (Meredith, NH), Richard (Dick) Potter (deceased), Edmond Potter (deceased), Barbara (Barbie) Potter (deceased), Frank Jon (Sandy) Potter.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Gertrude (Trudy) Hair Potter, with whom he shared many cherished years. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Moore and Bonnie Succi, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dan’s life was a testament to dedication, humility, and the enduring power of family.

My son Robert Kitzler adored his great Uncle and loved hearing his stories. We got to visit in June and Dan not only went along with our shopping at Outlet’s in North Conway ,He took us out to dinner afterwards. Always sharp as a tack. So happy to have had that time with him.
Love your niece.
