Willena Price Obituary

Willena Price, age 83, of Dahl, Kentucky went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ July 5th, 2025 at University of Kentucky Hospital, holding the hands of her loved ones. 

Willena was born December 16, 1941 to the late Arthur & Zelma (Inabnitt) Whitis. She married her love, Ralph Price in October, 1957. Together they shared 46 years until his passing in 2003. She was a devoted member of Cedar Gap Church of God of Prophecy. 

She taught herself to play the guitar at a very young age, carrying it back & forth to school to play every day. The Lord gifted her the ability to write & sing original gospel songs, that touched the hearts of many. Anyone who knew her, knew her voice. And she also made sure that everyone knew, God gave her that gift. She never actually learned to read music, but she could play several instruments including her guitars, just by ear. She shared her songs with anyone she could. She prayed for every person & every need that ever crossed her path. She devoted her life to spreading her unwavering faith throughout. She filled every room with light & sincere kindness. She complimented every individual she encountered. She knew her purpose was to spread the word of God, & his love, through her songs. She undoubtedly loved like Jesus did. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but we find rest in the fact of knowing she is reunited with her Savior & all her loved ones she has longed for, for many years. She is playing & singing with the angels now. 

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Brinson of Somerset, Ky & a son, Donald (Sherry) Price of London, Ky.  Grandchildren, Melissa (Johnny) Gipson, Russell Brinson, Ryan Price, Madison (Devin) Vaught.  Great Grandchildren, Brianna (Colton) Brown, Braden (Cameron) Gipson, Trenton Gipson, Whitlee Brinson, Easton Vaught, and Lyla Vaught. One great great granddaughter, Madalyn Brown. And another great great granddaughter on the way, Ellie Gipson. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her tremendously. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband, one daughter, Linda Lou Price, all six of her siblings, Helen Moore, Ruby Ward, Bessie Fox, Mildred “Gelia” Crawford, Gene Whitis, and Tevis Compton, and son in law, Kenneth Brinson. 

Pallbearers will be Ryan Price, Devin Vaught, Russell Brinson, Johnny Gipson, Sandy Catron, HG Hargis, Braden Gipson, and Trenton Gipson. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Sister Allene Topham officiating.   Burial will be at the Cedar Gap Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Willena Price Memorial Fund to help with funeral expenses.
