In Loving Memory of Mary Ellen Hagerman Our darling Mary Ellen passed away on the morning of Thursday, September 18, 2025, after a brave battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born on November 14, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, and went on to graduate from Lake Forest College in Illinois. She was a resident of the Cave Creek area for the last 24 years. Mary Ellen is survived by her beloved "bro," Mark Cross; her sister-in-law, Susan Cross; two daughters, Amanda Hagerman and Allison Moore; her son-in-law, Connor Moore; her granddaughter, Kinsley Moore; and her mischievous little terrier, Mr. Pip. To her daughters, she was nothing short of royalty. She firmly believed you should never leave the house without looking put together, and she always managed to do so effortlessly. She enjoyed traveling, curling up with crime and historical novels, and relaxing with her favorite shows. Mary Ellen loved her tennis team, whether captaining on the court or sharing laughs over lunch. Her "never give up" attitude lifted everyone around her, and her topspin lob kept opponents guessing. With unmatched storytelling and sharp wit, she was both the voice of reason and the life of the party. In true Mary Ellen fashion, she requested a small celebration of life in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rusty's Angels or Arizona Friends of Foster Children: two causes close to her heart. Mary Ellen will be deeply missed, but her love, humor, and sparkle will forever remain with those who knew her. On and off the court, she racked up more aces than most- always with style, class, and just the right amount of spin.
