John Newstrom Obituary
He was born in San Francisco, California on June 29, 1959. John was the eldest of six siblings. In 1990, he met Sheila Gair and they wed in 1991 in Las Vegas and together they had two children, Cody and Colton. He and Sheila separated around 1997 and eventually divorced.
John was known for being a hardworking man, he held many jobs in construction and manufacturing. His main occupation was as a union carpenter and in his later years he owned and operated the County Line bar in Crown.
John is preceded in death by his parents Alice and Duane Newstrom and biological father Robert Rowles.
John is survived by his sons Cody and Colton (Bettina) Newstrom; siblings Sonja (Tim) Knutson, Karen (David) Skaj, Eric (Paula) Newstrom, Hans Newstrom, Andy Newstrom and Casey (Cindy) Rowles.
The family will be hosting an informal Celebration of Life gathering from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025 to share stories, memories, and food at Riverwind Community Building (Riverwind 1), 2701 Northdale Boulevard, Coon Rapids, MN 55433.
A special thank you to the staff at Prairie Senior Cottages and the St. Croix Hospice staff during his final months and days for their loving and compassionate care of John.
Memorials are preferred to the American Lung Association or the American Stroke Association.
