Suzanne Bowen Obituary

Suzanne Hills (Davenport) "Sue" Bowen JANESVILLE, WI - Suzanne Davenport Bowen, 91 of Janesville, WI, formerly of Wattsburg, PA passed peacefully to her eternal rest from the home of her Janesville caregiver on March 14, 2025.

Sue Davenport graduated from the Albany Academy for Girls High School in 1952 and went on to get a bachelor of arts degree from William Smith College in 1956; she married Charles Bowen that same year. She excelled at field hockey. Sue was a homemaker for most of her life, with a great love of animals. She enjoyed caring for and riding her horses. All stray dogs or cats that wandered onto the farm lived long and pleasant lives there. Sue moved to Janesville in 2014 when she was no longer able to stay on the farm. The family farm was then sold to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to preserve its beauty and watershed.

Sue is survived by her sons: Jeff of Janesville, and Doug (Elizabeth) of Farmington, CT; and her grandchildren Scott, Kyle and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Donald & Hildegard Davenport; brother James; former husband Charles; and Daughter-in-Law Sandy Bowen.

Sue's ashes will be interred later this summer at the Davenport family plot, in the Norway Pond Cemetery, Hancock, NH.

The family wishes to extend their great appreciation to Mom's caregiver; Megan Pollard and her daughters Maranda and Marissa; and CNA Lydia Quade; Mom's physician, Dr. Janet Dabson; the Mercyhealth Hospice team; all the great caregivers at Mercyhealth; the waitstaff at Milwaukee Grill; and Mom's friends at Peace Lutheran Church.
