Mack Thomas Obituary

A celebration of life for Mack Thomas, 69, of Wellington, will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 12:00pm at S. M. Goodson Funeral Home-Anniston with Rev. Billy Bedford, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 3pm-7pm at the funeral home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home-Anniston. Mr. Mack Thomas, a beloved son, brother and uncle, was born on June 30, 1955, in Wellington, Alabama to Garnett Thomas, Sr. and Lillie Abney Thomas. Mack gave his life to Christ at an early age while attending church with his family at Hopewell Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Willie Terry. He received his education at Brutonville Elementary School and Alexandria High School. After high school, he became a valuable member of the workforce and retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation after exemplifying hard work and commitment for 25 years. Outside of work, Mack had a passion for detailing cars and taking excellent care of his lawn. He was a true homebody at heart and found pleasure in the simple things in life. If wasn't cheering for his favorite football teams, the Auburn Tigers and Dallas Cowboys, he would be watching In the Heat of the Night. With his welcoming smile and easy-going nature, he never met a stranger. Mack was a true embodiment of love and kindness. He would always call and check on everyone. On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Mack Thomas answered the Master's call and entered eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garnett Thomas, Sr. and Lillie Thomas, and his brothers, Garnett Thomas, Jr., Alfonzo Thomas, Sr., and Johnny Thomas. His memories will forever be cherished by his brothers, Norris Thomas, Billy Ray (Janice) Thomas, and Standley Thomas; sister, Martha Thomas; special nieces, Jamillah Thomas and Makayla Thomas; special nephew, C. J. Orr; 8 nieces; 9 nephews; sisters-in-law, Sharon Thomas and Mary Ann Thomas; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Though his presence will be sorely missed, we gather to celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and compassion. S.M.
