Mary Hurd Obituary

Mary Beverly Rhoades Hurd, age 95, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. Known simply as "Bev" to those who loved her, she lived a life filled with grace, joy, and devotion to others. Bev is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn Richard Hurd (Jan) and Brian David Hurd (Lauren). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jennifer Hurd Tucker (Brian), Toni Hurd Christopher (Mark), Adam Michael Hurd (Nicki), Hamilton Wright Hurd, Morgan Alexander Hurd, Harrison Rhoades Hurd, and Elizabeth Ann Hurd. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Emma Kate Tucker, Addison Paige Tucker, Zoe Glynn Christopher, Cooper James Christopher, Lola McKenzie Christopher, Ethan Wesley Hurd, Liam Michael Hurd, and Effie Elizabeth Easterwood. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jack Rhoades Hurd; her parents, Walter Perkins Rhoades and Elmore Rouse Rhoades; and her sister, Jean Pickens Brown Pulley. Bev was a woman of many talents and deep warmth. She loved gardening, playing bridge, writing heartfelt notes to friends and family, and celebrating every holiday with passion and creativity. Her home was always full of life, laughter, and the spirit of the season. She worked for 25 years at SouthTrust Bank, where she was admired for her professionalism, reliability, and kindness. After retiring, she remained active in her community and was a faithful member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church, where she found fellowship and spiritual strength. A celebration of life will be held on July 20, 2025 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Anniston Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Beverly's memory to Parker Memorial Baptist Church, a place that was dear to her heart. Bev will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the beauty she brought to the everyday, and the unwavering faith that guided her long and meaningful life.
