Orion Bessinger Obituary

ORION DANIEL BESSINGER Orion Daniel Bessinger, Age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Orion was born on Feb 21, 1933, to Daniel and Odeal Bessinger in Au Gres, MI. He graduated from Au Gres-Sims High School as a Valedictorian in 1951. Afterward, he attended college and obtained his 2-year teaching degree. Post-graduation, Orion taught at a One Room schoolhouse in Parisville, MI. He coached basketball for the Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School in Harbor Beach. Here, he met the LOVE of his life and future wife; Marjorie Pawlowski. They wed on May 21, 1955, and raised a family together. Marjorie and Orion were married for 70 wonderful years. Orion was co-owner of an Equipment Rental Business with his brother Francis in Livonia For 17 years. He moved his family to his beloved hometown of Au Gres in 1976, subsequently opening Bessinger Chrysler sales and service with his Brother Francis. He eventually retired From the Bessinger Pickle company. Orion was a devoted father, husband, and man of faith. He was committed to St. Mark's Catholic Church, where he served as an Usher and Lector. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus to the Highest degree, as well as the Lions Club. Throughout his life, Orion was extensively involved in the community. He loved meeting local friends for coffee and golf. More than anything, Orion was known for lighting up a room with his outgoing personality and wit. He was quite the jokester and storyteller. Performing magic tricks was something he enjoyed, especially in front of his cherished grandchildren. He was loved by all who were blessed to have known him. Orion is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie, and their four children: Daniel (Karen), Jill (Mark), Mary (Michael), Kelly (Vince). He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Sarah, Gabrielle, Nicholas, Natalie, Jacob, Nathan, Joseph, alongside many nieces, nephews and cousins. Orion is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Bessigner and Odeal Brown (Daniel preceded Ordeal in death), Step Father Ernie Brown, Brothers Francis and George, and his sister Joyce. Visitation will be held in Melbourne, Florida at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home on June 2nd From 4-6 pm with Rosary at 5:30 pm. Funeral mass will occur on June 3rd at 11:00 am (family at 10:30 am) at Ascension Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
