Silvio Bucci
Born: July 14, 1932 | Died: July 5, 2025
Silvio J. Bucci, 92, a recent resident of Parkville, Missouri (formerly of Creston, North Carolina and Detroit, Michigan) passed away peacefully Saturday, July 5, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Silvio was born July 14, 1932 to Ubaldo and Rose (Barone) Bucci in Amatrice, Italy.
Silvio immigrated to the United States in 1948 just prior to his 16th birthday.
He enlisted with the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was released from the US Navy with an Honorable Discharge and 4 service awards. After being discharged he continued his education at the University of Michigan and was an enthusiastic Wolverine's fan. Go Blue! Forever.
He loved to play golf. On two separate occasions he made a hole in one; this is quite an achievement to brag on. Known for his spaghetti sauce, he loved cooking for the people in his life all the while sipping red wine which he credits for his longevity. Silvio also had a passion for creating stained glass artwork for family and friends.
Silvio was united in marriage with Dianne (Neal) Bucci. From this union they had a daughter Cathey (Bucci) Rennick. They preceded him in death. Silvio eventually remarried to Lavena (Johnson) Bucci and gained a stepdaughter (who was just like a daughter to Silvio), Michelle Helbig. They preceded him in death. Lavena and Silvio are survived by their daughter Cynthia (Bucci) Carter. He is also survived by a sister, Irma (Bucci) Pape; his four grandchildren: Elisabeth (Rennick) Farewell; Sarah Jane (Rennick) Finzel; Rebekah Rennick and Elise Carter; two great-grandchildren: Silvia Farewell and Frederick Finzel; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Bruno Bucci; and a sister, Gloria (Bucci) Boni.
Beyond his family, Silvio was a beloved member of Riverview Community Center in Creston, NC where he served on the Board and shared his culinary gifts by feeding the community and facilitated other outreach programs. His long-term companion continues to serve and remains an important part of our family.
Lovingly referred to as Grandpa Silly to his grandchildren, and Poopsie to his daughter.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Memories of Silvio and condolences to the family may be shared at
