Susan Marie Gurnoe, age 55, of Red Cliff, passed away peacefully and courageously, Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, with loving family by her side.
Sue was born June 11, 1969 in Washburn, WI, the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Elizabeth "Betty" (Nordin) Bear. She graduated from Anoka High School in 1987. She worked for a Real Estate Title Company in the Minneapolis area for 20 years. She married Michael Gurnoe on September 24, 2011 in Red Cliff where they raised their son. Sue most recently worked for Human Resources at the Red Cliff Tribe.
Sue enjoyed camping trips, boating on Lake Superior and maintaining her gardens around her home. She was also a great cook and baker. Her life was defined by her selflessness, hard work ethic and her commitment and love for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Mike of Red Cliff; son, Jacob Gurnoe of Red Cliff; mother, Betty Bear of Red Cliff; sisters, Barbara (David Smith) Bear of Coon Rapids and Roberta (Dave Ujke) Bear-Ujke; step children, Ashly Gurnoe, Lynna (Nate) Martin Jessie (Lance) Bresette and Taylor (Wade Hanson) Gurnoe; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob in 2023; sister, Catherine Barnes and infant sister, Robin Bear.
Cultural Community Services will be conducted by Jim Pete 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Red Cliff Elderly Center. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the Center.
