Barbara BARRY Obituary

Age 95, passed away peacefully at home from congestive heart failure on July 3. Barbara was born in Glen Ridge, NJ on August 3, 1929, daughter of Robert B Putnam and Laurette Sullivan. Barbara graduated from Bart Avon Secretarial School and then worked at the Walter Hines School of Relations at Johns Hopkins U. before her marriage. She met her husband Martin (Skip) Barry, prominent Maryland artist, at a lacrosse party when she was 19. After her marriage, she devoted her life to her family. She was a great cook and was famous for her fudge, an accomplished knitter, made beautiful handmade jewelry, was an avid reader, played Canasta with friends and loved spending time with her family. Put Put had a wonderful sense of style and was always the picture of fashion. She adored animals and adopted stray cats and dogs throughout her life. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Colts, Ravens, lacrosse and enjoyed playing golf in her later years. Put Put loved watching classic BW movies . She had many happy times at the beach which was her happy place. Barbara is survived by her daughters Barbara Conover, Mary Ellen Rowe (Bill), Martin Barry III (Wendy Burkley Gray) Leigh Nodar (Steve). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1999 and son in law Jeff Conover. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11 am on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Towson.
