P. Louis Rohe, Jr., passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, in his home, at the remarkable age of 103.
Born on October 3, 1921, in Baldwin and raised on the family farm, Louis lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, and deep commitment to his family.
He has now been reunited with his beloved wife of nearly 75 years, Loloa May (Smith) Rohe, who passed away in 2017, and his devoted daughter, Karen L. Cox, who he has dearly missed since 2018.
Louis earned his law degree from the University of Baltimore in 1942 with friend and future Governor William Donald Schaefer. He enjoyed a successful career as a title attorney and real estate developer, including Pleasant Hills in Kingsville.
He was a co-founder of the law firm Rohe & Lattanzi, owned an independent insurance agency and acquired the first Century 21 franchise in the Baltimore area in the early 1970's.
He was also co-founder of the Baltimore County Building and Loan Association in 1955, which later became Baltimore County Savings Bank and went public as BCSB Bancorp in 1998 and later merged into First National Bank of PA. He served as President for 5 decades.
Louis was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his great sense of humor and generous spirit. His wit and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He and his beloved wife Loloa shared many joyful years living along the Bird River in Chase and spent many happy years in retirement in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine, the ocean, and the company of friends and family.
Louis was an avid reader and enjoyed researching family genealogy. He was known to have a beautiful singing voice and in his younger years was active with the Tall Cedars, the Optimist Club and with Camp Chapel Methodist Church, having served as Sunday School Superintendent & youth teacher.
Louis was the devoted father of Karen and her husband Adrian, Louis P. Rohe and his wife Linda, and Gary L. Rohe and his wife Susan. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Adrian and Penny Cox, Sean and Theresa Cox, Stuart and Gina Cox, David and Lisa Rohe, Sheila and Alex Ross, Melanie and Nathan Prior, Ryan and Ashley Rohe, Cody and Michael Cotton, and Shawna and James Gelow.
His legacy continues through his 20 great-grandchildren: Kaitlin (Mark), Madison (David), Spencer, Dean, Mackenzie (Jared), Stetson (Jill), Connor, Everett, Christopher, Kyleigh (Joe), Delaney, Jaiden, Payton, Cooper, Jax, Caleigh, Kyle, Jonathon, Brayden, Kamryn.
Louis was also blessed to be a great-great-grandfather to Lakelyn Grace Cox, Jensen Livesay and Juliet Livesay, joyful additions to a family that spanned five generations. He was overjoyed to meet them.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12,2025 at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A. 11750 Belair Road in
Kingsville, MD, with visitation from 10:30am to 11:30am, at which time a Memorial Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment Camp Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Camp Chapel United Methodist Church (
www.campchapel.org) in honor of Louis' enduring spirit.
P. Louis Rohe, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of leadership, generosity, laughter and love.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
