David and I knew each other for 30+ years and I will treasure the memories of the times we spent together. David, I hope you are with my husband, Tom, and that you two will have a laugh together and take care of Norman and me from wherever you are. Love to you both.

My condolences to Norman and David's family. I emailed David recently checking on his health and he replied with his same weird sense of humour. We will miss you David. Much love.

Goodbye dear David.
With so much gratitude for all our covid walks & talks. In retrospect I realize how important they were for my sanity in those long bleak months. Thank you for a deeper insight into the Extraordinary Person that you became for me, but had always been ... over the decades.
My heart goes out to Jane and Susan who will forever miss you Big / Little Brother.
And to your sweet beloved Normie.
David, I see you laughing again ... freed from the ordeal of every laboured breath.
With my love, Pippa

In September 1970, I sat down at a beer party during Trinity's orientation week and a very tall blond man sat down beside me, for which I will always be so grateful. David and I were two of the extremely small number of first-year students in sciences at Trinity, much to the disgust of most of our fellow first-year students. We had to become lab partners in order to survive of the behemoth of U of T itself. More than once David left me in charge of an experiment only for it to go wrong in two minutes, making me run to the student lounge to extricate David to rescue the mess. Our jeans were full of acid burns, the marks of poor chemistry students. We skipped so many classes to debate the meaning of life in the Buttery. David decided to take 3rd year off to travel Europe and obviously so did I, sadly not together. We lost track of each other in the 90's (I was in Hong Kong) but last year David came across my email address and contacted me, for which I will be eternally grateful. David reminded me what love is. Thank you so much, dear friend. Love you forever, you gave me so much.

David, you brought energy and a passion for life into every room you entered. You inspired many, fascinated many more, and baffled the rest of them. To know you was to understand the twists and turns of real friendship. The first time we met, 21 years ago in the four-seasons in Toronto, you ordered a $52-dollar martini, I'm still paying for it! I can still hear your laugh and see that mischievous grin, and it's those memories of you I will hold on to until we meet again and I know we will meet again.

It was so great getting to know you in what turned out to be the last two years of your life. Hearing all your stories, getting to know the people you´ve known, preserved in high fidelity memories. But really we were both just in it for the LOLs.
