Joann Marie Allen, 94, of Princeton, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Liberty Village in Princeton.
Joann was born on December 4, 1930, in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Clyde and Mable (Trimmer) Kitterman. Joann married Hilding Enoch Allen on July 31, 1950, in Princeton. They shared 71 years together.
Joann is survived by two daughters: Vicki (Kent) Ackerman of East Moline, IL, and Catherine Losey of Princeton, IL; daughter-in-law Kathleen Allen of Princeton, IL; six grandchildren: Kelly (Benjamin) Keith, Julie Allen, Jennifer Allen, Nathan Losey, Katie (John) Donofrio, and Molly (Brandon) Alred; four great-grandsons: Kaden, Carter, and Bennett Keith, and Ian Donofrio; and two great-granddaughters: Hope Alred and Ellie Teske.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Allen B. Losey, and her son, Larry Allen, three brothers: Irving, Donnie, and Ward Kitterman; and four sisters: Irma Bruce, Norma DeRose, Nina Norine, Vera Miller, and Helen Thomas.
Joann graduated from Princeton High School with the Class of 1948. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Princeton. Joann and Hilding were dedicated to farming. She helped outside on the farm and with bookkeeping for the farm. She was active in county, state, and national Pork Producer Associations and was an advocate for the pork industry. She loved spending time with her family, wintering in Florida, sewing, cooking and playing cards.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Bureau Township Community Church, Princeton, with Sharon Meisenheimer officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. Burial will take place in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation in her memory.
