Elaine Champ

February 7, 1927 - July 7, 2025

Elaine May Champ, age 98, of Beatrice, formerly of Wymore, born on February 7, 1927, in Diller, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. A smart, dedicated woman, Elaine devoted her life to the care and education of the young minds she helped shape. She graduated from Diller High School in 1944, attended Fairbury Jr. College, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Peru State College, as well as a Master's degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha.

For 36 years, Elaine brought joy and knowledge to many third-grade classrooms at Wymore Southern Schools, and for an additional 10 years at a rural Jefferson County School. Beyond her dedication to education, Elaine was a past member of the Wymore Business and Professional Women and the Nebraska State Educators Association. She served faithfully as the Treasurer of the United Methodist Women, reflecting her Christian faith. Elaine's love for her family, education, and her treasured hobbies of ceramics, reading, and puzzles enhanced the lives of those around her. "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23)

Elaine is survived by her many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Champ; her siblings, Idola Champ, Delmar (Irene) Champ, Orma (Arthur) Hahn, and Marion "Pete" (Dorothy) Champ.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Wymore United Methodist Church with Lori Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery near Diller. Public viewing will take place one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, Wymore EMS, or the Wymore Public Library with the funeral home in charge.
