Billy Ray & Genell Torbett

On June 28, 2025, husband and wife, Billy and Genell Torbett passed away peacefully together at home. A miracle from God. Bill and Genell grew up together as children in Troup, Texas. Bill went into the Army from 1956 to 1959. Genell went to Texas State College. When Bill returned from the army, he and Genell married in 1960 and moved to Orange, Texas, where he worked at Chevron for 38 years as a senior operator. They had been by each other's side for 65 years. A true love story and to pass away the same day by each other was truly a wish come true! We remember and celebrate the life they lived, the love they shared and the differences they made in our lives.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Donald Bradford Torbett; his mother, Modell Torbett; his sister, Marily Lacy; brother-in-law, James Lacy; and nephew, Jim Lacy.

Genell was preceded in death by her father, Everett Polk Thrash; her mother, Archaline Dolly Thrash; her sister, Violet Vaught; nephews, Phil McDonough, Alex Vaught, And Mark Vaught.

Both were survived by son, Donald Bradford Torbett and wife Anita Jean Torbett; daughter, Vicki Dolly Donofry and fiancé' Glen DeMary; grandchildren, Cody Davis and fiancé; Kristy Cage, Cutis Davis and wife Jessica Davis, Hannah Kelley and fiancé; Craig Harville, Katy Torbett, Jeremy Walthers, Nathaniel Walthers, Chris Beed and Michael Beed. They had 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Nieces, Jan Lacy, Mary Lou Lacy, Pat Mampre and husband Bill Mampre; nephews, Will Vaught and wife Jenifer Vaught; two great-nieces, and four great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, on July 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
