Belleville, Illinois - Ruth S. Rieso, nee Schell, 90, of Freeburg, IL, born February 28, 1935, in Cisne, IL, died Friday, April 18, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Rieso was a legal secretary for over 25 years and was a member of the St. Clair County Board. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Smithton, IL. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She was an active member of the Metro East Herb Club and a former member of the daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Rieso, whom she married on June 21, 1969; a son, Neil Ledbetter; her parents, Earl and Edna, nee Clark, Schell; two brothers, Sidney Schell and Lowell Schell; and a sister, Mary Brown.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindi Correll; a son, Clark (Jane) Rieso; two grandchildren, John (Kristine) and Kyle Correll; five great-grandchildren, Clayton, Harper, William, Bennett, and Rosie Correll; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Friends may visit the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Smithton, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Smithton, IL, with Rev. Robert Koch officiating.

Burial will be at Franklin Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
