Marvin Rohrer Obituary

Marvin "Mick" Rohrer Monticello, MN - Beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He was an exemplary leader, remembered for his humor and passion for his family. Marvin was born on July 24, 1946, in Adrian, MI to Marvin Clorn, Sr. and Elizabeth Jane Bocken.

Mick met Carol at Orfordville High School and their love story began with their first date at the homecoming dance on October 19, 1963. From that moment, they were inseparable. Not long after, Mick was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country with pride during the Vietnam War. In 1977, the couple settled in Minnesota. Raising four children was the ultimate honor for Mick. Countless annual family road trips led the family on many memorable adventures across the country.

Mick's career was spent in the insurance industry. His firm went independent in 1995, which was something critically important to him. Carol stepped in to assist at the office for two weeks and retired 30 years later. His business continues to thrive today, carried on proudly by his son and daughter.

Mick's wanderlust led him and Carol to travel the world, often a reward for attaining what seemed like insurmountable goals in his work life that were achieved with grace and grit.

In his spare time, he was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting, sports of all kinds, golfing, tailgating at the Gopher football games, and playing games. Ever the strategist, he would always find a way to win! Winters in Florida were a time of rest and relaxation and were made all the more memorable when family came to visit.

Above all else, Mick loved nothing more than time with his wife, kids and especially grandkids. He was there cheering on their sports teams, coaching them along their adolescence and pouring his heart into their lives. He was loved and well respected in his family, his community and his industry. The rock of the family, Mick was the center of it all.

The world is left a better place because of Mick's time with us. His "Marvisms" will live on and will continue to bring a smile to the faces of those he touched.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann; children, Michelle (Tyrone) Perron, Kelly (Keith) Strombeck, Matthew (Kaia) Rohrer, and Korrie (Jason) Flikke. He was a cherished grandfather to Nicholas, Mackenzie, Lilly (Michelle), Zacharie, Tyler, Peyton, and Hayley (Kelly), Riley, Joseph (Matthew), Kendall, Christian (Korrie); his siblings, Susan (Jim) Manges, Thomas (Pat) Rohrer, Melvin (Donna) Rohrer, Roger (Connie) Rohrer, Robert (Kathy) Rohrer, and Debra Yaun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay Gosda, Nancy (Arvelio) de la Torre, Sue (Stephen) Burtness, Kathy (David) Schick, Randy (Viveca) Gosda, Peter (Theresa) Gosda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
