Robert Gummow Obituary

Robert D. Gummow passed away on June 20, 2025. Robert was born on February 1, 1928 to Daisey Hall and Edward Allen Gummow. He grew up farming with his father on the Gummow farm in Rockton, Illinois. He joined the Army immediately following WWII and was stationed in Germany. He was an active member of the Rockton-Roscoe VFW. Robert was a heavy machinery operator for Rockford Blacktop in Rockford, Illinois. In 1959, Robert and his wife Virginia bought a Porsche and joined the Porsche Club of Chicago, where they remained active for years to come. They established lasting friendships at home and abroad through the car club. They made yearly trips to Europe to participate in Porsche Club touring events. Robert is survived by his brother Fred Gummow, one niece, Susan Gummow and several nephews, Kevin Gummow, Edward Gummow, Bradley Gummow and Andrew Gummow. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia MacDonald Gummow and his brother Allen Edward Gummow, and two nephews, David Gummow and Stephen Gummow. Services will be private.
