Gerard Grasso Obituary

BRIDGEPORT

Gerard Grasso, known to many as Jerry, passed away on June 2, 2025. Born on September 6, 1952, in Bridgeport Connecticut, Jerry lived a life marked by creativity, dedication and a deep commitment to both family and community.

Jerry began his professional journey in education, teaching 9th and 10th grade English. His passion for mentoring extended beyond the classroom as he served as assistant coach for both boys' cross country team and the girls' track team. A lifelong athlete, Jerry ran four marathons and competed in cross country ski races. He also enjoyed downhill skiing with his close friends.

In 2004, Jerry turned his focus toward photographya passion that blossomed into published work featured numerous times, including a magazine cover. This creative pursuit took him across the country and around the world alongside Jayne, as he captured moments both grand and intimate through his lens. He explored life with curiosity and passion.

In 1976, he married Jayne Kiehart and remained her husband for 48 years. They shared a life full of family, friends, and travel around the world.

Jerrys legacy continues through his three children and six beloved grandchildren: Jared and Natalie Grasso, Anthony (9) and Olivia (7), Joshua and Yesenia Grasso, Giuliana (7) and Gianna (5), and Sarah and Nate Ayoub, Lucas (7) and Theodore (3).

Family and friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service in the funeral home at 4:45pm.

As Kahlil Gibran once wrote in his poem, Fear;

The river needs to take the risk of entering the ocean

because only then will fear disappear,

because thats where the river will know

its not about disappearing into the ocean,

but of becoming the ocean.

Live boldly, love deeply, create freely, and embrace every chapter of your life with grace.

Dear Jayne and Family,
We were deeply saddened to learn of Jerry's passing. He will be sorely missed by all of the Old Turnpike neighbors. He truly was gifted with his creativity with his camera.
I remember quite a while back when he came over about 4 AM to take pictures of a family of foxes(6) that were living under our shed in the back yard. He had recently purchased a new special lens. The photos came out beautifully. Talk about dedication. He was a very special friend and neighbor. RIP old friend. Don & Alice.

Sophia, Jane and children:

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. He was SUCH A GOOD guy and I wish I knew my cousin a little better as we were both in the same profession and he was a joy to converse with. My mom always loved the visits from Jerry and Jane (as did I) - you two were such a warm beautiful couple - always happy and upbeat ) and your visits made mom's day on more than one occasion...I hope he knew that. This was a really good write up on Jerry. I knew of his photography but not much else on the full life he led. Again, I am very sorry for your loss.
