James Browning Obituary

JAMES E. BROWNING James E. Browning, 80, of El Dorado, KS, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at home surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS. James was born in Pineville, MO on April 18, 1944, to the late Gertrude Georgia (Schmidt) and Lloyd Browning. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. James retired as a supervisor from Sherwin Williams after working for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing. On July 16, 1966, he married Jeanette (Downey) Browning in Pineville, MO and she survives him. He is also survived by: sons, Sean Browning and wife Wendy of Willard, MO, and Troy Browning and wife Laura of Augusta, KS; grandchildren, Keelie Thomas (Tyler), Ashli Miller (Derick), Luke Browning (Shae), Lexie Browning, and Drake Browning; great-grandchildren, Maddi Thomas, Lane Thomas, Brady Thomas, Jaxson Miller, Reece Thomas, Parker Miller and Anakin Browning; brother in law, Doug Keller; and sisters in law, Hazel Browning and Gail Browning. He was preceded in death by his siblings: William Browning; Lloyd Browning; twin, Edward Browning; Alta Keller; Jerry Browning; and Kay Browning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rivercross Hospice, 251 S Whittier St., Wichita, KS 67207.
