Barbara Christie Obituary

Barbara Christie, age 88, of Westminster, MD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 19th, 2025. Born on December 18th, 1936, in Baltimore, MD, Barbara lived a full life devoted to her family, friends, and community. In May of 1992, she married the love of her life, Edward "Boh" Christie. Barbara was so much more than a wife-she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Her fierce love for her family and her signature blend of honesty and warmth left an unforgettable impact on all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her beloved son Richard Musser, her grandson Billy Wood, her parents, and several siblings. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Edward "Boh" Christie; her daughters, Terry Alascio, Jennifer Musser, and Rosemary Wood; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy. Surviving grandchildren and their families include: Jessica Reeley and her fiancé Brian Kanka, Alex Matthews and her husband Caleb, and their daughters Landyn, Hadley, and Parker, Kyle Musser, Jimmy Musser and his children Jordan and Rachel, Malisa Varner and her husband Jason, and their children Matthew and Rowan, James Wood and his wife Marie, and their sons Connor, Nathan, and Jackson, Trish Mumford and her husband Daniel, and their daughter Kailey, and Edward Christie and his wife Tasha, and their children Mackenzie and Andrew. Barbara had an unmistakable zest for life. A loyal fan of the Orioles and Ravens, she also found joy in watching the hummingbirds outside her window. She was known for her devotion to her Tuesday and Thursday night BINGO games at Gamber and Reese Fire Departments-where she was a well-loved regular and rarely missed a game. She lit up when surrounded by children and dogs, and she had a soft spot for the neighborhood kids who often brought a smile to her face. Her "tell-it-like-it-is" spirit was balanced with a heart of gold. She never missed an opportunity to brag about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always armed with photos and stories to share. To know Barbara was to know strength, wit, generosity, and deep, abiding love. She was affectionately known as "Crazy Nannie," a name worn with pride and humor by a woman who made life brighter for those around her. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gamber & Community Fire Company 3838 Niner Rd, Finksburg, MD 21048. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Barbara's memory to Dove House Hospice, The American Cancer Society, Gamber Community Fire Company, or Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company. Barbara's love, laughter, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever. Online condolences at www.Burrier-Queen.com.
