Katharina Elfert Obituary

Katharina "Käthe" Elise Elfert, 94, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at her home. Born on February 4, 1931, in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johan Struder and Ludowika Greve Kardes. She was the beloved wife of the late Hasso Elfert, who passed away in 2015. Käthe moved from Germany to the United States with her husband at the age of 28 while pregnant with their first child. She was a social butterfly and loved making friends. She worked at the Old World Deli for many years; she also worked in the cafeteria at the McDonogh School and as a sales associate for Macy's. Surviving her are children: Rolf Elfert and spouse Kimberly, Gary Elfert, Lou-Anne Huemmer, grandchildren: Carrie, Meagan and spouse Hannah, Sara and spouse Ian, Brandon, Nicholas, Gary, and great-grandchildren: Caden, Hannah, Adaline, June, Reese, and Jett. Käthe was predeceased by her siblings: Bernhardine "Berni" Paulus and Heribert Kardes, and daughter-in-law: Dawn Elfert. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 4, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 11 am.
