John Coble MacNeill Obituary

John Coble MacNeill, Jr. of Charlotte, 80, passed peacefully surrounded by family on July 13, 2025, at Terra Bella in Harrisburg, NC.

John Coble MacNeill, Jr. "Jack" was born on January 17, 1945, in Cincinnati, OH. His parents were the late John Coble MacNeill and Katharine Powers MacNeill of Charlotte.

Jack was raised in Charlotte and graduated from Myers Park High School in 1963. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a law degree in 1970. He practiced law for 46 years in Charlotte. Jack was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte and later Sardis Presbyterian Church.

Jack was an avid Carolina fan who watched almost every basketball and football game and had the privilege to see many games live. Often when the score got close, he turned to his famous radio to listen for good luck. Jack also had a passion for tennis and gardening. However, his most treasured joy was time spent with his family and he cherished every moment with them. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather.

Jack was married to Pamela Perry MacNeill on February 13, 1971, at her mother's home in Henderson, NC. They resided in Charlotte following the wedding, where they raised their three children; Matthew Perry MacNeill, Elizabeth Anne MacNeill and Claire Katharine MacNeill. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Pamela P. MacNeill, his son, Matthew P. MacNeill (Christine), his daughters, Elizabeth M. Ross (Todd) and Claire K. Belles (Matt). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, who adored him deeply James Coble Belles, Joseph Matthew Belles, John Conley Belles, Elliana Grace Belles and Grace Katharine Ross.

Jack, as he was affectionately known, as a quiet shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Jack's legacy of values like hard work, kindness, witty sense of humor will continue to inspire us through our lives. We are so grateful for the time we had with him and the love he showered upon us. He will be deeply missed. We ask that you remember him for the way that he lived his life and the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
