Clyde Sneed Obituary

Clyde Horace "Danny" Sneed Jr., 78, of Grape Creek, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, July 4, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Danny was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Murphy, N.C. He was a 1965 graduate of Murphy High School.
After graduating, Danny was employed for several years with Remco Manufacturing Company in Murphy, where he met his wife, Gerri. He retired after 34 years with the N.C. Department of Transportation, where he served as a supervisor in the landscape division.
Danny loved gardening, raising shrubs and trees, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
Danny accepted the salvation of the Lord on Dec. 13, 1987, and he became a faithful member of Grape Creek Baptist Church, where he enjoyed serving the Lord and singing in the choir. He was a member of the building committee and also served as the church clerk for several years. He definitely loved the Lord and could retell his salvation experience up until the final stages of his illness.
Danny was a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge No. 146 for 50 years. He worked his way up to the role of Master Mason. Later, he became a member of the Shriners International, where he enjoyed collecting money for the Shriners Hospital for Children. He believed in the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. He was very proud of all the work the Shriners do to support sick children.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gerri Sneed; and three children, Angela Sneed Enloe, Melissa Johnson and husband Mark, and Nathan Sneed and wife Vandia, and son-in-law, Terry Killian. He also leaves behind his sister, Vivian Allison; nine cherished grandchildren, Christy Killian, Misti Killian, Kandi Kasa, Brayden Killian, Kevin Enloe, Kyla Enloe, Daniel Johnson, Caity Sneed Mashburn, and Isaac Sneed, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde H. Sneed Sr. and wife Ruby, and daughter Jennifer "Jenny" Killian.
A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Grape Creek Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation with the Revs. Steve West and Eddis Dockery officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Cherokee Masonic Lodge No. 146. Pallbearers will be Kevin Enloe, Daniel Johnson, Brayden Killian, Isaac Sneed, Jeff Chastain and Eric Hogsed. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Johnson, Jeff Graves and Verlon Enloe.
Special music will be provided by Daniel Johnson, Alan Andrews and Roy Tipton/Paula Culver.
Danny's family would like to extend a special thank you to Four Seasons Hospice for all the love and support they offered during their time of need, as well as his caregivers, Stanley Johnson and Jeff Chastain.
