Vivian Dahl Obituary

Vivian Dahl

October 29, 1931 - July 4, 2025

Vivian N. Dahl, 93, affectionately known as "Meme," of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born on October 29, 1931, to Herman and Kathryn (Gregor) Richman in Chicago, Ill.

Vivian grew up in the Chicago suburbs of Cicero and Berwyn, the only child of her parents. On February 13, 1954, Vivian married George L. Dahl in Berwyn, Ill. Together they raised three children: Larry, Sue and Kirk. In 1968 they relocated to Lake Wissota, where they made a great life and legacy for their family. Vivian spent many years working at Crimpers as a cosmetologist.

Vivian was passionate about the arts and had a strong connection to the Heyde Center, where she often participated in local performances. She dedicated much of her time and energy to enriching her community, volunteering at many organizations including St. Joseph's Hospital. Vivian also had a soft spot for animals, especially her beloved horse, Caesar, whom she cared for lovingly for many years. Anyone who knew Viv knows she was always up for a trip to the casino or a card game with friends.

As a seasoned traveler, Vivian's adventures took her to many countries, including Germany, Egypt, Russia, Romania, and Scotland. She had a special fondness for the Black Forest in Germany, where she led many tours. A proud member of the German Club, she looked forward to the annual Oktoberfest celebrations. Above all, Vivian treasured her family- hosting Christmas Eve, or other family celebrations in her home was something she cherished deeply.

Vivian is survived by her children, Larry (Kathy) Dahl, and Sue (Dave) Hunt, of Chippewa Falls, and Kirk (Tami) Dahl of Altoona, Wis.; her 10 grandchildren, Amy (Matt), Bryan (Shanna), Laura (Ross), Nathan (Savannah), Levi (Mel), Jacob (Ashley), Gretta (John), MacKenzie (Corbin), Alec, and Gabrielle; her 19 great-grandchildren, Myles (Grace), Lydia, Simon, Henry, Martha, Degan, Miah, Eversen, Arthur, Leif, Tallulah, Silas, Coast, Jaylyn, Devin, Camrynn, Rowan, Owen and Beau; her nephew, Jim; her nieces, Pam and Nancy; and her special friend and neighbor, Betty Oddo; along with many other cherished friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Dahl in 2012; and her parents, Herman and Kathryn Richman.

A memorial service for Vivian will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the English Lutheran Church in Bateman, Wis. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with services starting at 12 p.m. Pastor Justin Arnold will officiate. Vivian will be laid to rest in Bateman Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred for a Memorial Plaque at the Heyde Center in Vivian's memory. Vivian's family would like to extend special thanks to Betty Oddo, St. Croix Hospice, and Our House Assisted Living for the loving care they provided.
