Randy J. Webster, 65, of Fairmount, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Randy's life centered around his family and the relationships he built in his community.
Born on May 20, 1960, in Anderson, Indiana, he was the son of the late John and Doris (Carpenter) Webster. Randy was a 1978 graduate of Madison-Grant High School. On October 16, 1981, he married the love of his life, Linda Shively, in Fowlerton, Indiana. They celebrated 43 years of love, partnership, and cherished memories.
Randy worked as a Meter Specialist for American Electric Power and was looking forward to his retirement in June 2026 after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Fairmount Friends Church and was known for his warm heart and generous spirit-he never met a stranger and loved everyone he encountered.
An active and enthusiastic supporter of local youth, Randy coached baseball, softball, and basketball for many years. He and Linda enjoyed traveling with their closest friends-Jim and Toyna, Pat and Angie-who were more like family than friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, and their children and grandchildren: Amber (Evan) Hammond and children: Jaelynn, Lauren, Brody, Titus, and Eliza Amy (Tim) Young and children: Nolan (Nicole) Young, Hunter and Madisyn Wolf, and Avery Joshua (Stephanie) Webster and children: Aidan, Addelyn, and Tinsley Sara (Jeff) Jessup and children: Jace and Aniston
He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie (Robert) Orem and Brenda (Jim) Russell, and his mother-in-law, Betty Shively.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Webster, and his father-in-law, Cleo Shively.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Fairmount Friends Church, 124 W 1st St, Fairmount, IN 46928, with Pastor Brock Meyer officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Vinson Cemetery in Summitville, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to support the creation of a memorial at the Fairmount Sports Complex in Randy's honor-a tribute to his passion for coaching and his impact on young athletes.

I've known Randy's all my life. My mom and I ran into him last fall in Matthew's at the covered bridge festival whe he told us about his retirement this year. He was looking forward to traveling with Linda and taking time off work. I'm so sorry he wasn't able to fulfill this journey. I am heartbroken he is gone, but know he is with Doris and John and now. Rest in Heaven Randy.
