William Henry (Bill) Hansen (the first and only, as he often referred to himself), of Hernando Florida passed away on January 30, 2025. Born in Aurora, IL on June 12, 1941, Bill was the youngest child of Merson J. and Gladys Marie Hansen.
He is preceded in death by both parents, an elder sister and brother. Surviving Bill is life partner, Becky Holland of Hernando, Florida, his sister, Marcia Duvick of North Aurora, Illinois and two daughters Dana (Clint) Odegaard of Minooka, Illinois, and Kristin (Steve) Gregory of Lexington Park, Maryland, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
During his working years, Bill held various positions in city government with his last position as Building and Zoning Manager for Crest Hill, Illinois. In his retirement years, Bill was an active member of Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club as an avid golfer and a customer of The Grille and Tiki Bar. He visited The Grille and Tiki Bar only on days that end in Y.
Bill was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for over 40 years and a recipient of the coveted Fellowship Degree of Honor. He was an active member of the Joliet 300 Moose Lodge in Illinois until he moved his membership to Moose Lodge 2112 in Florida. There is a particular spot in the back room of 2112 that should be dedicated to his memory.
Other than family, many friends will miss Bill, particularly the members, bartenders and waitstaff at Citrus Hills and his cohorts at the Moose Lodge. Those who knew him will remember his mischievous sense of humor, his ability to immediately make a friendship and keep it forever and the soft heart he tried to always hide.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 24, 10am to noon, at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 221 S. Haid Ter, Lecanto, FL. Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
You are missed, William Henry. May you rest in peace.

Len and I had many good times with Bill when he lived in Aurora. Haven't seen Bill in years, but I thought of him. Bill and I would partner against Len and Carol to play password. We always beat them. My sympathies to Becky and the girls.

Bill ... you used to make me laugh at the Grille when you teased me about my English accent ... and would say "socca socca" ... I enjoyed seeing you seated at the end of the bar at the grille chatting away to Mel and the other bartenders. What a lovely way to spend an early evening you will be missed so much ... thank you for being you.
